I went out and bought glue to fix the problem and ended up with glue on my fingers, the finial and my sofa (my fault, but still not how I wanted to spend my first moments with this expensive lamp). Since then however it's been a joy to own. I love looking at it everyday and it may be my favorite lamp in the house. Bad first impression, but I'm truly glad to have it.
