This range hood is high quality. I bought a cheaper version a few years ago for my old house. I liked it, but now that I have this I can see where the cheaper one was lacking. This range hood is thicker steel that wont dent as easily. The oil tray is steel, the baffle filters feel commercial grade, the large duct size really moves a lot of air. I am glad I spent the money. Its loud but quieter than the old one. Relatively quiet for the amount of air it moves. The instructions are good, mounting is easy and secure. For maximum surface coverage, the retractable hood slides out as needed. Two oversized aluminum mesh filters with a carbon layer absorb grease, smoke, and cooking odors. This hood is equipped with two pre-installed LED light bulbs that provide convenient illumination over your cooking surface. Unlike traditional ductless ventilation, our retractable hood is not convertible: it's exclusively designed, constructed, and rigorously tested for ductless applications where there is no access to outside venting. Instead of blocking airflow with a simple baffle, the Summit engineering team has created a quieter, more efficient system with smarter technology. It utilizes a cross-flow fan to rotate horizontally, redirecting air smoothly out of the front louvers set at a slight upwards angle to ensure smoke and odors won't be directed towards the user. This maintains laminar airflow, avoiding back pressure and minimizing the noise found in converted range hoods that use axial fans. Though it operates at a lower CFM, its effective airflow outperforms traditional axial fans with a more efficient, quiet performance. This range hood ships without a power cord and is designed to be hard-wired by a licensed professional. We also offer this unit with a pre-installed power cord and plug (add suffix "PTC"), as well as ADA compliant options with separate controls to be installed according to ADA guidelines.
