We wanted an alternative to installing an awning, and this umbrella fits the bill. We've had it for a couple weeks and so far we love it. It's easy to raise, lower, tilt, and swivel. Putting it together was pretty simple, but definitely requires two people so one can hold the umbrella/pole in place. Don't attach the feet if you're going to use a base because you attach it directly to the base instead. (We bought the Madeley Plastic Free Standing Umbrella Base, which uses water or sand. It does not come with a base, just criss-cross feet.) The pole and supports are stout. The umbrella does creak and move around a bit when it's windy, which I expected because physics. ;-) The material does a nice job of blocking the sun, and I love the teal color.. Gmh. In spite of that bad experience, I decided to try again but went with a non-adjustable one this time This one can be raised or lowered and thats it. So it has far fewer moving parts that can break. Works perfectly and was super easy to setup - although quite heavy, so I suggest being 2 people for the initial setup. Also, note that it requires a sturdy base - sold separately, which is the main reason I still bought from this manufacturer a 2nd time since I already had the base from the first umbrella that broke..
