My daughter wanted a black bed with shelf in the headboard. This bed was exactly what we were looking for. The bed shipped in perfect condition and my husband put the bed together in about an hour by himself. The bed is strong and solid. It's a beautiful piece of furniture. We were surprised by two things, neither negative. The first was the finish on the bed is not flat like in the picture. It is a shiny finish. We weren't looking for a shiny finish but it looks good and will help protect the bed from a teenager. The other is that the headboard has a light in that is turned on and off by touch sensitive buttons, one on each side of the headboard. They work great and it makes using the light easy.. Jennifer.
