First opening the box, it looked to be a major undertaking. However it was a simple job. Just a few notes : some of the pieces are heavy, especially the umbrella holder and might need a second person. The raising and lowering handle was a bit tedious to line up the hole. We wanted an alternative to installing an awning, and this umbrella fits the bill. We've had it for a couple weeks and so far we love it. It's easy to raise, lower, tilt, and swivel. Putting it together was pretty simple, but definitely requires two people so one can hold the umbrella/pole in place. Don't attach the feet if you're going to use a base because you attach it directly to the base instead. (We bought the Madeley Plastic Free Standing Umbrella Base, which uses water or sand. It does not come with a base, just criss-cross feet.) The pole and supports are stout. This umbrella looks really nice. I did have to order the weighted bases that fit in the X brace. But the overall price was great. And five minutes after I set up the umbrella the solar charging lights were on when I hit the switch. Would recommend it. The only downside is the umbrella does not rotate. But it’s nice.. Cynthia.
