I have been eyeing this lamp for a while and it finally went on sale, which made me go forward to purchase. I bought 2 for each of my night stands in my bedroom. I read all the reviews and knew the pros and cons ppl were saying. My only disappointment with this lamp is that the finials are very cheap looking… not a heavy brass plated look. I decided to keep the lamps because I love everything else about them. I did read where some ppl felt the gold on the base looked cheap but I didn’t think so, just the finials…but you really can’t tell once the finials are in place. The lamps are a classy timeless look! I couldn't screw down the finial when it arrived because the metal insert came loose inside the wood. I went out and bought glue to fix the problem and ended up with glue on my fingers, the finial and my sofa (my fault, but still not how I wanted to spend my first moments with this expensive lamp). Since then however it's been a joy to own. I love looking at it everyday and it may be my favorite lamp in the house. Bad first impression, but I'm truly glad to have it. Perigold dealt with the initial problem quickly and professionally. I can't comment on whether it's truly moss-colored as I have trouble with colors, but it's certainly beautiful.. David. Yes, this lamp is expensive, but yes, it’s FABULOUS! Purchased two for bedroom nightstands and I couldn’t be happier. They were very well packaged and arrived in perfect condition. The light ivory shade is also perfect and the top crystal ball tightens down nicely so the shade doesn’t spin around. Another lamp on the Perigold/Wayfair site by Robert Abbey looks very similar and the same price as this one, however, in reading the reviews for the other lamp, the top crystal piece that holds the shade in place doesn’t screw down tightly and just spins around; thus making the shade also move. This lamp has a 3-way switch, so it looks gorgeous with the dimmest setting, but brightness can be increased with just a turn of the switch.
