First opening the box, it looked to be a major undertaking. However it was a simple job. Just a few notes : some of the pieces are heavy, especially the umbrella holder and might need a second person. The raising and lowering handle was a bit tedious to line up the hole. I have have this umbrella for two years and am very happy with it. The fabric is not Sumbrella, which I consider to be the best canvas for umbrellas, but this fabric is holding up pretty well. Be sure to keep it clean, and keep wasps, and other insects from making nests as they can damage the fabric, as well as sting you :-). I do not have a traditional base. I was having a patio poured, so had a metal holder installed. You can even install this type of holder later as well, and I recommend them as there is no tripping over big bulky stands.. Cindy. This umbrella works well and is the quality I expected at this lower price point. A plastic piece that attaches in the middle of the pole was broken almost completely in half when we received it and clearly low quality plastic. We didn’t ask for a replacement in light of that. Thankfully it’s not essential to the umbrella’s operation. There’s no strap to wrap around the umbrella when not in use, which we don’t mind but something to know.
