I sourced this in Noir for a shower floor, and it came out beautifully. The basketweave pattern adds just the right amount of visual interest while still feeling classic and grounded. It gives the space texture without competing with the rest of the design. The matte marble has a really nice, natural finish that reads elevated and not overly polished, which I appreciate from a design standpoint. The color variation in the Noir palette adds depth and keeps it from feeling flat, especially once installed. These are 6"x2" Bejmat tiles (150x50x13mm). Bejmat are a particular style of rectangular Glazed Zellige tiles, with slabs cut before firing. These thinner bejmat help reduce the weight for wall applications. Produced by hand in Fez, Morocco, these Moroccan mosaic floor tiles are known the world over. Still made with the local clays, and fired in kilns powered by olive pits, these rectangular floor tiles are authentic Zellige (zellij).
