Replaced an older downdraft system from the 90s, this unit was best for me because beneath the countertop, the motor can be movedpositioned either in front of or behind the unit. When not in use it is flush with the stovetop which helps create a flat seamless flow on the countertop. When we have used it, it works very well. We got a range hood for our outside grill it took time to install because my husband built a wood box to attach it to our roof.it works great because now when we use the grill all the smoke doesn’t stay in the area and we are able to eat sitting around the grill. The power on the Fotile range hood is excellent. For most cooking, I stay on the first 2 out of 3 fan settings. For high smoke activities such as seasoning a wok or searing steak, the 3rd settings is more than enough to suck up all the fumes. The fan speeds are all pretty quiet.
