The first chair took me forever to assemble, but I used it as a learning experience. I learned that I could have saved myself a ton of time if I had used the provided allen key with the red top (looks like a wine bottle opener), instead of the conventional one that was also provided. I also learned that I needed help from someone else for a few stages in the process because it saves a lot of time. Things went a lot smoother and faster when I put together the second chair. My husband and preschooler put these together quickly. My husband had a lot of positive things to say about the quality (until he found out how much I paid per chair, and then he said, “What! You paid what! No wonder they’re so good!”). We use the chairs without cushions and they don’t feel too hard. I am 5’2, and my knees ache after a while of sitting in them even though I’m not a person who usually gets joint aches. I could probably benefit from a foot stool. But my husband is 5’9 and finds them comfortable. Despite the cost, we plan to invest in three more of these chairs for our children to use. I expect them to last a long time. We use these at our fire pit. The arm rests are nice and wide for putting a drink, phone, or small plate. Our kids are ages 1-7 and the chairs are wide enough for two kids to sit. Update: We have had the chairs for more than four years now, and they look as good as the day we bought them, despite sitting fully exposed to the elements. Beautiful chairs that were very easy to assemble. The only challenge we had was with the pre-drilled holes for the cup holder bracket. They were a little too close to the edge and cracked the wood when the screws were inserted. Easy fix: just drilled my own holes more towards the center of the base.
