We specifically bought this bookcase because the description stated the shelves were metal. Upon arrive, however, the shelves were MDF (manufactured wood) which is the very thing we were trying to avoid. The table came well-packaged. Unfortunately, I had several issues upon opening it and during assembly. The middle panel had a chip in the veneer, and the plastic cord holder had a broken corner both while still in the box. Several of the screws were very difficult to put in due to excess material in the threads or because the hex screw tool didn’t fit in the screw head. One of the holes for attaching the frame to the top didn’t match up, either. When building the top, the cam locks damaged the surrounding particleboard when trying to tighten them.
