A remote fishing village in Denmark, Skagen was a gathering place for many Danish, Norwegian and Swedish artists. This celebratory party was a gathering of many artists, and friends and an important woman painter, Anna Archer with her daughter along with Kroyer himself painted in the white suit. The guests raise their glasses in a champagne toast as the sunlight sparkles off the glasses and the light glints, reflecting off the surrounding leaves. Norwegian-Danish painter Kroyer painted in the naturalist style but was influenced by contemporary Impressionists as he studied in Copenhagen, Paris and Leon and traveled extensively throughout his life.
