Absolutely recommend this tree if you have large or “big-boned” cats! I have three boy cats, one is long and very tall and one is chonky so they can pull a regular tree right over. They throw themselves on this tree and it barely moves. They love the soft faux fur and the extra cushion. It looks beautiful too and I love the real wood posts. My two kitties love their new space! We have two 9 months old kitties that we rescued when they were 3 12 weeks old. They are indoor cats but we wanted to give them a safe sanctuary when are not home. I put the structure together myself and it probably would have gone quicker if I had help but I took my time and the instructions were easy enough to follow. The wood is strong enough for indoor but I don’t think it would last long outside in the elements. I didn’t use the roofing material that came with it since I have it inside the house. The reason i gave it 4 stars because IT IS NOT CHOCOLATE BROWN as pictured which is what I wanted. It is a med beige tan, see photo. Disappointing but I am keeping it and my two cats love it. This is a quality made cat scratcher, which my cat only uses as a perch. I discovered that she does not use scratching posts (she uses the area rugs for her scratching needs). But I need to mention that the base shouldve been made larger, as it almost toppled over the first time my small cat jumped up on the perch, and it spooked her. You could maybe secure it to a wall for stability, although it doesnt come with any hardware to do that with. Or put a heavy object in the middle of the base to make it more secure. My cat has since learned to jump on the perch from the bed, which is a little bit higher than the perch. Bottom line is, unless you can make it more stable, I wouldnt recommend this scratcher if your cat is large and a zealous scratcher, or older and has trouble jumping up (thus, the danger of pulling it over on itself, like mine almost did). This has been a great addition to our cats’ furniture collection! The smalleryounger cat loves to sleep on the flower on top, which is made of something like memory foam, but a bit denser. I imagine it is somewhat self-heating and also helps to hold onto the heat from the window. My largest cat loves the middle level basket. She will curl up in it for hours and has since I took it out of the box. Her sister is terrified of the entire thing and avoids even being near it. I have no idea why. I picked it because it had 3 levels, and they are always together, but it has not appealed to her yet. Love this! Debated about the purchase for a while, but finally went for it, and my cats are in love. Its sturdy and assembly instructions are straight forward. Plenty of room for both of my large cats (about 12-14 lbs each). I added some finer screening around it to keep bugs out (just stapled it to the frame) and created a wood frame that fits inside my window so it can be secured without attaching it to the exterior of my house.
