My husband and I have been living in our apartment for almost 4 and a half years and we have had two dogs with these 4 years. Our complex has never cleaned our carpets (every 6 months they get cleaned). We rented the rug doctor and it didn't do what I thought and it was bulky and only went one time. I have been seeing good and bad reviews about this, but I chose to invest in our health. We have dust in the carpets from shoes and every daily activities. When my husband put it together and saw the rows he was impressed already. It didn't take him long he followed the directions. Some people's reviews I have read proves they didn't follow directions, follow it! This is expensive and worth it do it correctly. It had been recommended by a friend that used it and a professional installer also insisted upon it. I also took the time to read the reviews and I called the factory for additional information. I had a previous 1000 square foot carpeted cement floor and the carpet needed replacement. we liked the look of vinyl but knew we would need a good underlayment. ECF is that product and more. Waterproof with a vapor barrier, cushioning effect but not spongy. The easiest product to ever put down. Lays flat. a unique way of attaching to each other making for a perfect fit and easy to cut and shape where shaping is needed. It seems a bit pricey but consider the long term use it provides it is really not meaningful. Having the best underlayment is the most important consideration when putting down any flooring. I bought pre-owned house in 2015 and since then I am continuously improving it often using fast fix and less expensive options because I am retired with limited budget and have to do all these improvements step by step. I never had any leaks in my house because I maintain it very well. But I inherited the ugly, bubbly bottom in my kitchen cabinet under the sink. I bought this mat to hide that terribly looking bottom and this mat serves this purpose very well. I cut it easily for the perfect fit, but it was somewhat challenging for me to install it because I have osmoses water filtering system under the sink. Otherwise it would be no problem.
