I had the door professionally installed. I purchased 5 lag bolts , header board , a sander , weatherizing stain to color it grey, spray poly. I was initially disappointed when assembling because some of the boards were cut short and I can see tiny gaps in the wood but it is a heavy door that was a bit of a project. The handle is great and on the other side of the handle there is an intention so you can push the door from the other side. We did not install the lock latch but it is a very solid piece. Medium weight and sturdy!! This barn door was fairly easy to install but it does require two people to install the sliding bracket. The door has a flat coat of paint so I would recommend painting it even if you want it to remain white- use at least a satin finish to reduce fingerprints. The handle is nice. Note- if your doorway is 38” wide, you will need to add wood to the interior frame or else there will be a gap. I recommend this door and would install it in other areas of my home. Shamika. This was the only hardware I could fine with a solid rail. The kit arrived well packaged and I am impressed with the overall quality of materials and the instructions. The rail is solid, and the mouning hardware is really well designed, with adjustable spacers depending on your configuration. I did not want the metal straps on the front of the door, so I opted for the top mount configuration. I outsmarted myself and added another 1/4" to the recommended height, and I should not have done that. Use the 2" rail stops from the top of the door and you will be fine, even if you are installing over a carpet floor, like I was. I also wound up trimming the rail because I have a perpendicular wall next tot he door. I used a small hack saw, which worked OK, but it took some time and effort. Perhaps a circular grinder would have been better. Regardless, it worked out fine and looks great. I definitely recommend this hardware if you are haning a barn door.. Robert. San Diego, CA.
