Cutting a piece of rubber is similar to cutting through lumber not easy. Also, the 12-in. pieces allow for more design options such as right angles and tighter curves/circles. They were the perfect height I was looking for as why I bought these over metal ones.. They look really nice. I live in a state where we have red clay soil and so it is best to place after a rain or watering. I am not sure how far down they are supposed to go in the ground.
