Just received. Nice sink but the "sound deadening" material is not as pictured. It pictures what looks like a sprayed on material on the entire underside of the sink. It is, in reality, some black foam material that is glued on the bottom (large piece) along with 3' x 3' pieces of the foam randomly adhered to the basin sides. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I love the configuration of this sink, I installed the garbage disposal on the larger side of the sink to make it easier to drain large pots or clean off the debris from roasting pans and the like. I use the smaller side for hot soapy water. It came with a template and when installing it we could see the beautiful quality of the stainless steel which I believe is 18 gauge, appears to be very durable. Also noticed the pads which do really help with vibration and noise. The finish is just beautiful, I just love the satin finish which looks super smart. Overall very, very pleased.. Jenny52. CA. We had this sink installed with our kitchen remodel in June 2018. It was beautiful. However, after 6 months of use, we're very unhappy with the quality. The sink scratches fairly easily. Yes, the manufacturer instructions say to not to this or not do that, clean only following the grain, etc. We’ve owned two other homes with a stainless steel sink and are not using this Elkay sink any different than the others. We never had the scratches on the other sinks that we do with this one and we do follow manufacturers instructions on cleaning and care. Very disappointing.
