It lays fairly flat, but you’ll definitely want a rug pad or some heavier furniture on it to keep it from sliding around. Don't let the Wayfair images fool you; photos don't do justice to the intricate details and rich colors. You really need to see it in your own space to fully appreciate it. The rug is incredibly soft and lays completely flat right out of the box. We're considering adding a pad underneath for extra comfort when sitting on the floor and for added noise absorption in our media room — but that's purely a bonus, not a necessity.
