This trash can is 4 years old and still works like new. It doesn’t eat a lot of batteries (I have replaced them 3 times in 4 years). I wish it had a plug, but it is not a big issue. This is a beautiful machine. Sleek, shiny and solid. I haven't found the batteries for it yet. Still unpacking from a house move, and where oh where could they be? Looks pretty good and was very easy to set up. Doesn’t come with batteries, that was a bit annoying. Reasons for not giving a 5 it’s not as smart as other trash cans I’ve used where if you open it and it senses that you’re still emptying something, it will stay open. This one just closes after the number of seconds, on top of your hands. You can keep it open but you have to push the Open thing and then it doesn’t close automatically, you have to push Close to close it. They have remained charged for a month and always come on and are triggered from a good distance. Very impressed by the design of this trash can. It doesn’t have one of those unnecessary inner liners most cans seem to have, which is a huge plus for me. If a bag leaks with this one all you have to do is take off the top containing the opening mechanism and rinse out the bottom before replacing the top. Simple. It’s all made of some pretty thick plastic, so it feels quite substantial and solid. The opening mechanism works perfectly but, of course, the true test is how long it lasts. We’ll see. I also wanted it to be made of plastic because the stainless steel models are so easy to dent, and then what can you do? No worries here. I’m actually coming from a 20-year-old Rubbermaid unit with a little swinging door, so I’m making quite a jump in quality and technology here. It’s about time. Wish me luck! ;-). David. Reno. These could be better. My biggest gripe is that they are very flimsy. The way that the tube light plug into the actual light is TERRIBLE! I wish I could upload a video on here to show you. If you barely touch it, the light flickers. When you set them up, you have to get them just right otherwise they don’t light up. Once you do that, it’s fine though. The motion sensor works well, sometimes it varies though, sometimes it will pick motion up 8ft away, and sometimes it will pick it up at 2-3ft away. Once the scone is mounted, it can be clipped on and off the wall for USB C recharging. It comes with a remote to charge the light temperature settings. Overall, I like these, but they are extremely flimsy. For a little over 100 for 2 of them,(January of 2026) they should definitely be higher quality.. Anonymous. Wed Feb 04 2026
