Pepper mill has 2 Stage grinding mechanism made of case-hardened steel which is specially treated to keep the teeth razor sharp and protect from corrosion. Salt mill mechanism is designed to resist corrosion from dry salts. To get the best out of your Peugeot salt grinding mechanism, you should use dry rock salt, with a max. diameter of 4 mm (0.16"). Not recommended for sea salt. Mills comes partially filled with rock salt for immediate enjoyment. Classic grind adjustment: turn the top knob tighter (clockwise) for finer grinds; looser (counter-clockwise) for coarser grinds. Made in France.

I shopped around at every kitchen store imaginable and hated the selections. I’m happy I didn’t settle until I found these. The paint is just as pictured and looks elegant without being too formal or too farmhouse (yuck). I love the wide base so they don’t tip over, and the holes are different for salt and pepper. I imagine they will be quite durable even with little kids using them. The plug for refilling is rubber and I think that will last with care.
