It’s sturdy. I can’t comment on putting it together since we hired a contractor to put it together. However, the description says the canopy filters UV rays, and while I can’t argue that point, I can tell you it’s hotter than heck sitting underneath it. I ordered two of these and placed them sideways so that I could have a 16 wide and 24 feet long covered area. It definitely took four people about four hours to put up the first one but second one went a lot smoother after figuring out all the louvers. I’ve had it up for about a month so far with some pretty strong winds and so far so good. We did have a decent rain and it kept everything dry when I closed the louvers but then we had a torrential rain and it was just way too much for the small areas to hold so it definitely leaked in a few spots. LOVE THIS PERGOLA - We needed something that kept the sun off our outdoor kitchen in central Florida. We lifted it by about 18 inches so it would be above our door by using flower boxes and filled with concrete. It actually makes the pergola more comfortable by raising it. The gutters work well in the heavy down pours known in Florida. The higher wind tolerance was a huge selling point for us. We couldnt be happier. The cost of which essentially doubles the overall cost. 2) The installation instructions do not emphasize the importance of making sure the structural frame is installed straight, level, plumb, and that the distances between the vertical members is exact from top to bottom.
