I bought this somewhat hesitantly due to Wayfair's return policy, the amount and weight of all pieces, and the careful packing into 3 boxes. That would be hell to return, especially at my own cost. Nonetheless, I didn't return it and it is now full constructed. First of all, I assembled this over the course of about 5 days, mostly by myself (which I understand is not advised by the instructions). I needed my neighbor's assistance and two kids to help me hoist the vented top portion of the structure onto the four posts. Second, the instructions are clear about 75% of the time. There was a lot of trial and error with a few items, which I will list here: 1. Step 6 calls for D1, but does not clearly show which side is up. Flat side should be down. 2. In step 11, the aforementioned hoisting of the vented portion, it really doesn't appear that those 4 pieces of D1 will hold such a heavy piece, but it does. 3. In step 18, it calls for sliding the roof pieces into grooves without securing them, which happens in step 19. I HIGHLY ADVISE TO INSTALL THE ROOF PIECES ON ONE SIDE ONLY AND SECURE EACH IMMEDIATELY. As a matter of safety, these pieces are extremely sharp and some slid out of their grooves, crashing to the ground. Anyone standing below the unsecured roof pieces could've been severely cut/injured if one slid off. This happened a few times (slid off, not injuries) and it was terrifying. Again, having others assist here to hold them in place while someone secured them is important. Wind could also cause these to fall. 4. Some of the same pieces are slightly different in length and this may cause a few issues with some pieces fitting (for example, I had trouble with the Q pieces that secure the roof pieces). 5. Step 22 was very unclear to me. There are 2 tracks for the bug screen and the curtain, but which one goes on which track is up to you. I used the outside track for the curtain. Also, when installing each, ensure the zipper portions meet in the middle of each side (not at the posts). Don't install H9 until you have all of the curtains properly installed, or you'll have to remove those pieces to make adjustments. 6. Finally, also in step 22, H7, H8 and H10 are to be installed and it is not clear how or to what. 3 sets of each go on each post and attach to the eyelets of the bug screen and curtain to keep those from blowing. Photos of this have been added here. All in all, we like this structure but the fabrication of the materials is far from exact and the instructions need to be improved.. Tim. Downey, CA. It was quite a journey from ordering to assembly. The Gazebo shipped in 2 boxes but, unfortunately, the first delivery had only Box #2. I contacted a Supervisor and was pleased with a substantial credit to my credit card for the inconvenience. I was told Sunjoy would only resend the entire order and that I could keep the original Box #2, no charge. As I was awaiting the replacement shipment on delivery day and had called to check on status of delivery, I was told by another Supervisor that the "Replacement Order" had arrived at the warehouse earlier in the week but the box and contents were damaged. So . . . Wayfair sent the damaged Gazebo back but failed to let the delivery company know. The Supervisor, again, pleased me with an additional substantial credit to my credit card for the inconvenience. The 3rd shipment arrived and a contractor (and 2 man crew) I had hired began assembly. Here are key points on the assembly process: 1.) The assembly took a full 2.5 days to complete by a licensed contractor and crew. 2.) The Manual is absolutely needed for success! It would be helpful if the dimensions (length) were added to the parts descriptions. 3.) Buyers should be aware that IF the Gazebo is being placed on a surface that is NOT completely level, it may be necessary to trim the wooden posts, per laser level results, to assure complete balance and a safe structure. 4.) VERY important to secure legs to ground as the large roof area will be affected by strong winds. 5.) Roofing Sheet Metal Panels - Good news, bad news: The panels are lighter weight and and prone to denting and possible scratching on the finish so HANDLE W/ CARE! All the panels are shipped with a plastic film on both sides of each panel. This protects the glossy finish from scratching (Good) but it is a VERY time and labor intensive process (Bad). Definitely worth it in the end but build in extra time in the assembly process. 6.) The wooden posts, supports and joists are a soft wood finish and may "bruise", so handle w/ care. Overall, we are pleased with the Sunjoy 12x20 Gazebo! It provides a good sized space for a couch, 2 lounger chairs, 2 ottomans, cocktail table, end table and rattan storage box. It also has room for a 5'x3' table and 6 chairs. We added an overhead fan/light combo (additional support beams were installed by the electrician), 4 electrical outlets, and Bistro style dimmer style string lighting for additional light and ambiance. I am absolutely delighted with the quality of the kit and the value for money. After a good deal of research I thought this product would be exactly what I needed. Awesome 12x20 gazebo. The netting installation was a little confusing at first, but we were able to figure it out. Assembly took father and son approximately 6–7 hours, including breaks, which honestly wasn’t too bad for the size. It would be great if the manufacturer included clearer information about ordering replacement parts in the instructions. So far, the gazebo has held up very well through rain and high winds and feels sturdy once assembled.
