I was worried about the noise but it is relatively quiet- it sounds like our white noise machine. It seems like a quality unit that will last us years which I really appreciate. There are some good features to this air conditioner. It is lightweight and easy to carry and install into the window. It has several modes and the lowest setting makes very little noise. The "quiet" setting is very quiet. It doesn't give the cold cooling feeling that old air conditioners do and feels more like a central air conditioning system. My windows are non standard wide so I had to adjust the installation recommendations.
