Written primarily by Thomas Jefferson, the Declaration is a formal explanation of why Congress had voted on July 2 to declare independence from Great Britain. The American Bill of Rights, inspired by Jefferson and drafted by James Madison, was adopted and in 1791 the Constitution's first ten amendments became the law of the land. This is a reproduction of Charles Patterson's oil painting depicting the batlle between the USS Frigate Constitution and the HMS Java, December 1812. The USS Constitution commanded by Captain William Bainbridge, exchanging broadsides with the British Frigate Java off Brazil early in the action. During nearly two hours of battle, Java was dismasted and had to surrender. Her damage was so severe that she had to be burned.

This may be my favorite piece of art ever purchased. Having decorated 3 homes and one large Airbnb, I’ve bought a lot of decor. I have had my eye on this for 2 years and finally pulled the trigger. The color saturation is outstanding. The quality of the canvas and frame is perfect. It came with mounting hardware, was relatively lightweight, and was so easy to hang. I would give it 10 stars if I could. If you’re on the fence, BUY IT! My only regret is that I didn’t buy it sooner. Cherry on top Wayfair’s price was a fraction of the cost of the same piece at other retailers. Apologies for the low night time lighting in the pics.
