Update 121625 - Ok, Doors have been installed now my husband will put holes in for the doors for the handle hardware and wait for our warmer weather to paint doors (black). He will paint the trim and doors black. But these doors provide such a much more expensive and quality look. The contrast between the original doors and these 5 panel doors are night and day and the soundproofing is sooo much better. We have a open concept home and to have the solid core makes such a difference. So much so we were going to leave one of our doors that is not seen in the main area original but he had me order another one today. I will say these doors were prices extremely well over the big box stores or any competitor. I can not express how much these doors have increased not only the value of our home but the beauty. Original 111425 My husband has been disappointed with the current doors we have in home (hollow core and plain). Our home is an open plan and the doors being as they are you hear everything and this was his biggest complaint outside of the fact that they were plain and ugly. He saw these and had me order three of them immediately. First assessment, well packaged and secured. The doors are very heavy and sturdy. This door beautifully serves the need I had to separate a den from the dining room to provide overnight guests more privacy. It has a nice finish and is solid enough to provide a bit of sound deadening between the two rooms. My installer did note the lack of a dado cut in the door for the track, so he didn’t notice that a particular end should have been “up” - so I think he mounted it upside down (the door’s cross panel is about 5” deep on one end and 7” on the other). Not a big enough deal visually for me to have the door re-mounted, but an indicator for which end was intended to be the top of the door would have been nice. The door doesn’t come with handles but I was able to find finger flush-mount and loop handles that worked beautifully. The door is made solid enough to screw handles into it.. Caryn. Seattle, WA. Quality is pretty low, but so is the price. It LOOKS good, but the finish is razor thin sticker material. And the MDF is not that durable. First impression: Very nice workmanship, color and texture very nice, dimensions highly accurate and consistent. Unexpected: The wood is not painted but somehow shrink wrapped in a clever textured durable plastic wrap that completely fools the perception that it is anything but paint. Triming: Cutting the bottom to vertical size with a hand jigsaw is not a problem. That revealed the durable plastic wrap was actually not paint. I have no idea if painting the wrap would be ok or not. Fitment into the closet cutout: My closet frame was poorly constructed by the builder. The frame is taller on the right side than on the left, and neither vertical side is actually square. Both tops are skewed to the right relative to the footing, and the right side frame is taller than the left. This made it a real challenge to installation and left me with unappealing visual gaps. My options were rework the top left closet frame (big job, messy, drywall and mudding involved, painting afterwards) so I vetoed that idea, or take off the left doors and use a planing sander to bevel the doors to conform to the distorted frame (vetoed that idea because of tricky and only get once to get it right), or cosmetically hide the visual distortion by using a fascia treatment on the doors repurposing inexpensive plastic self-adhesive door sweeps and that worked easily and generally is quite appealing as a workable solution. Recommendation to the manufacturer: Review my photos to understand how my solution suggests you include accessory plastic fascias for cosmetic treatments when fitment to closet frames is difficult. Overall: I struggled a lot to get a good installation but attribute it to my closet framing poorly constructed. The end result looks and functions very nicely, especially after applying my door sweeps fascia treatments. I include a final after-treatment photo. I received this door and immediately loved it. I don’t know very much about doors and the considerations to be considered about doors but my daughter locked her puppy in the room and I’ve needed a new door since because in the process of removing the know the other door that I tried to fix was a basic door manufacturer door and just looked horrible. I saw this on sale and ordered it. I loved the weight and seems closer to wood. ! I was lucky that I had a friend that could hang it for me and knew what to do with a slab door. The doors were extremely well packaged is such a way as to NOT add a lot of bulk but to protect the doors from the normal shipping damage that can occur. Wood blocking all around to protect edges, extra pad on corners, two layers of foam in front and back (already removed in the picture). High quality doors (as expected).
