They were as bright as I hoped they would be. But they are fairly bright. And you dont need batteries because you just charge in the sun. They are handy to have if the electricity goes out. They dont light up much more than the immediate area so the light doesnt extend much outward. But you do get four so thats a bonus. And they are really cute. Wow, this is a beautiful lantern. Arrived very securely packaged. I found the same item on another (much more expensive) website before I found the exact same thing here at a substantially better price (kicking myself over that one). This lantern is just beautiful in both day and night environments, but especially at night, when the colors reflect on the surface the lantern is sitting on. The solar bulb is bright, allowing for the beautiful reflective design. The thickness of the glass is substantial -- it doesn't feel like it will break easily.
