If you don’t use cable wires, keep a 0.5 - 2 ft space between D rings and poles to give space for the hardware kits that come with adjustable turnbuckles to tighten & create tension.

This was an experience. First, I couldn’t clear the utility lines at my house but my friend’s deck was perfect. We started out confident, but it didn’t last. The wrenching apparatus was our downfall. In the end we decided to forgo the winch process and hung it only using the locking mechanisms. The sail is great. It feels strong yet pliable and it’s the perfect shade of summer red. Such a nice shade!! This puts our old shade to shame. I am very happy with the upgrade. I was leery about the winch situation but when I figured out how I wanted to mount it, it turned out working perfect. The instructions give you three different ways to mount the winches and all the hardware is included. I was able to use the house hooks from old shade and just added the winches to the opposite side. this is a replacement for an older shade. Found the eyelets to be superior in this Royal unit but have not had time to install but from inspection the stitching is the key.
