It’s magnetic on the inside so the tips and blades of the knives are not dulled by sliding in and out and being pushed against a block. The sharpener works well. Now, these knives are German stainless steel. No dishwashers, hand wash only, and I recommend you hand dry to avoid getting spots. That said the work like a dream. I especially love the size and balance of the chef knife. Perfect for almost anything and not so big that it’s too heavy to hold or lacks balance. With proper sharpening and care, these knives will last me a long time. Also, they are stunning. I keep the block displayed on my counter.
