This fixture is gorgeous in person and worth the price. It was packaged like Fort Knox and for good reason. The alabaster is in multiple, thin vertical pieces that are wrapped separately from the backplate. Each piece fits into a slot on the backplate and have to be handled with care as you put it together. There is a glass cover that goes between the bulbs and the alabaster so you get diffused light with no bulb glaring through the alabaster pieces. The brass is high quality. For Gatsby, that light reflected the steady glow of his desire for Daisy, across all boundaries of time and space. We’ve masterfully replicated the dock lights that dotted eastern shorelines in the early 20th century to create a collection that Gatsby himself would single out. While fixture’s triplex glass and solid brass construction will survive the harshest coastal conditions, the fixtures look splendid in fine interiors. We craft authentic details, such as the drip loop at the base of the bulb cage, according to the rigid standards of a bygone era.

The item is made of steel, for the money I would expect solid brass. My client and I plan to return.
