I've seen these newer afwalls being used hundreds of times since being introduced in 2008, and they have been nothing but really reliable and sensory-friendly for people on the spectrum. Unfortunately, there's a vocal group of haters on the internet who do not like this generation of afwall, but pay them no mind. The bowl of this toilet is deep enough compared to the older model that felt too shallow, like I was sitting on a clogged toilet. The new model, also, avoids siphoning out unnecessarily when you flush it, unlike the previous model that can do so unexpectedly and unnerve some people. Nice piece, but it's really more of an institutional item and assumes that you are replacing an existing urinal or have framing in place to accommodate an install. Installing this in a dry-walled garage, for instance, will take some doing including cutting away drywall and add 2x4 supports. Pros It flushes on its own which is super convenient The heated seat is amazing especially in the colder months The bidet feature is a game changer Warm water makes it feel comfortable and not shocking at all Cons The mounting brackets were too big for the hole on the bottom of our toilet. My husband had to modify them to make everything fit properly. Overall Once installed it works great and feels like a huge upgrade to our bathroom.
