Awesome in the winter, the kids find it rather difficult to weave the towels into for drying though so that's the only drawback. It's up to the adults to take the time to do it. Here is a magnificent antique rug. an antique Bezalel rug that was woven in Israel during the early decades of the twentieth century. This huge antique Indian Agra rug features an allover design that draws inspiration from floral patterns and elements that we normally see in the beautiful and iconic Persian rugs. The floral rug design patterns in the central field are symmetrical, which artfully demonstrates the amount of care that was taken in placing each and every one of the floral designs. The flowers and lines have a very delicate appearance to them, and they stand out against the luxurious rich blue color background because of the way the colors juxtapose against one another. Got this rug for our bedroom and have not laid it out yet. As you can see it is well packaged. It’s 8x10 and will be perfect on one side of our bed. The colors are perfect and match our decor. The carpet is soft but thin and can be washed. I have not tried to wash it yet as I feel it would be took big and bulky to fit in the washer and dryer. Has anyone else tried to wash. Michele Mara. This is a gorgeous rug for what I believe is an awesome price. In the pictures it looks like it almost has a shag to it- it doesn’t, it’s totally flat. The quasi-shag look comes from light brown specs on the rug. It’s really a pretty rug. Only gave 4 stars because I just got it and want to see how it holds up. It is also very soft. This circa-1940 vintage Samarkand rug features a unique landscape design of pine forests silhouetted against a backdrop of mountain ranges, stylized and rendered in brown, beige, and orange. A lake, or possible forest clearing, is created through abstract stripes in the same color scheme. The vintage carpets from Kashgar, Yarkand, and Khotan in the Chinese occupied Autonomous Region of Sinkiang are collectively known as Samarkands – lands of arid steppes, deserts, and mountain ranges traversed for thousands of years by caravans of merchants and traders from China to Western Europe along the Silk Route. Rugs from this region are typically rendered in glossy wool, occasionally embellished with richly brocaded silk and metal thread. Unlike Persian rugs with their reds and blues, Samarkand antique carpets have soft colors with startling additions: magenta with acid green, peachy beige with brown, saffron yellow with lacquer red, bone with brown or slate blue.
