These were not hard to install, I watched a video. I really recommend a video, it makes the directions make sense. Getting it level is the hard part. This was an experience. First, I couldn’t clear the utility lines at my house but my friend’s deck was perfect. We started out confident, but it didn’t last. The wrenching apparatus was our downfall. In the end we decided to forgo the winch process and hung it only using the locking mechanisms. The sail is great. It feels strong yet pliable and it’s the perfect shade of summer red. Got the shade and touched carefully. The fabric is really silk! So I placed on the lamp. Sides was correct 12 inches. The bottom and top was 1.5 inches short. I chose the Royal Shade Triangle Shade Sail with Hardware Kit & Rope in the 16 ft. x 16 ft. x 16 ft. size in beige, and it’s been a great addition to my outdoor space. I appreciate that it comes with the hardware needed for installation. The galvanized ropes feel sturdy, and the latches and carabiners made setup easier. The material itself looks strong and well-stitched. It provides good shade and helps keep the area underneath cooler. It doesn’t feel too hot sitting under it. I had some trouble getting it positioned just right and fully straight during installation, but once it was set up, it looks great. Not bad! Looks just like the photo in the description. Measured 100 times before I ordered. There is more of a gap towards the bottom right than top. At the top, both sides start at about 34” gap. At the bottom, the right gap ends up being about 1 ¼” and the left about ½”. Mounting was easy as I had slatted blinds, so I just popped those off and replaced the brackets for the new ones - a quick Google search and YouTube video helped. Took about 30 minutes by myself..
