Came beautifully packaged! No dings. The color is slightly more orangey than I wanted but I’m okay with that. I love that there is no assembly, and the wood is fairly good quality for the price. Just two negatives - I wish I could remove the nubs (that join the units together) on the top unit, and the company sticker on the unit was a bear to get off - I don’t know why companies put them on the unit like that! This is a pretty darn nice, sturdy bookcase which isn't cheap plywood and that's a pleasant surprise at this price point. It fits perfectly between my computer desk and file cabinet where I needed shelfs for reference books. I deducted one star because of a few issues. Maybe I should have deducted two! It took me a little over an hour to put it together myself, mostly because the pictograph instructions aren't the best so I took my time and studied it, then went back to the website to download one of three other PDF instructions that seemed a little easier to follow. Instructions state to screw shelves and braces to both sides of the bookcase and then place the top piece. I've put together pieces with shelves before and I always find that it's easier to screw all pieces into one side, then flip it and attach the other side. Two of the holes were not drilled properly, making it difficult to get the side screws in and one of the shelves wasn't finished properly, having a weird tacky area where it appears the black paint was missed and something sticky was left. At some point, I'll have to give it a light sanding and repaint that shelf, but I don't have time for that nonsense today. Also, the instructions don't tell you that you'll need a rubber mallet to tap in the little plugs that cover the screws, but you will definitely need one to get them seated in properly.. Gloria. The only thing I don’t like about it is that it is particle board with a sort of paper veneer, almost like Contac paper. This bookcase was purchased to replace one that was significantly smaller. Additionally, the other bookcase was made of laminate and pressboard that was of decent quality, but didn't quite have the quality to last for the time we desired. Once we received our shipment from Wayfair and unboxed all the pieces, I could see immediately that the quality of the material was far superior to not only our previous bookcase, but also several other products we've purchased from Wayfair. The finish was smooth as silk, and the stain was evenly applied throughout. The hardware to assemble the bookcase was also of superior quality to some of the cheap packs that arrive with other D-I-Y assembled products. NOTE: This product can be assembled by one person, but it would be much quicker and easier with two (or three if you're like me with two eager-to-help young 'uns). One of the trademarks of solid wood furniture is the weight of the finished product. This one indeed was heavy. Granted, non-solid wood furniture can be heavy, but if any of it is light, you can be assured the quality is slight! All in all, we are very pleased with this product and would highly recommend it..
