This is a beautiful rug. It has a tight weave, but it has a nice, thick firmness to walk on. It is made very well. It is made of wool, but it has not shed like a lot of wool rugs do. I plan on putting this under a bed in a guest room. It is so pretty. I hate to hide it. I feel like you could get away without a rug pad because of the thickness of the rug.
