It is sturdy enough for being this light but I wouldn't say this is a heavy duty and sturdy box that will take abuse such as sitting on it or kids jumping on it. Shower niche was just installed by a pro for my master bathroom remodels. Remodeling is still in process therefore I dont know how this stainless steel niche will hold up to the test of time... will follow up after 1 2 years of used if Wayfair allow this.
