This was an experience. First, I couldn’t clear the utility lines at my house but my friend’s deck was perfect. We started out confident, but it didn’t last. The wrenching apparatus was our downfall. In the end we decided to forgo the winch process and hung it only using the locking mechanisms. The sail is great. It feels strong yet pliable and it’s the perfect shade of summer red. I wanted to get this installed as soon as possible but as one end requires a post that needs to be cemented required digging near underground lines, we need to wait for "Miss Dig" to show up to let us know it's safe. However, as we all know what shade sails look like I wanted to take a minute to talk about the construction. This is hefty. The ends are crafted with a double row of stitching with upholstery thread (10x the strength as regular sewing thread), the fabric isn't one color but a mix of white and maize which adds a depth to it and will hide dirt better than a solid beige color, fabric is thick and sturdy, and the fact it comes with all the installation hardware is a bonus. I was leery about the winch situation but when I figured out how I wanted to mount it, it turned out working perfect.
