Yes, it’s plastic, but it’s textured/3D which gives a nice effect. The color is a sort of burnished brass. It's important to note that with this design, the center square goes above the ceiling grid vs. sitting below it, so this is perfect for my application as the basement in my home is quite low in some areas where there is duct work, allowing me to optimize head space versus other designs that droop below the ceiling grid. This is gorgeous tile. If the company can figure out how to pack it right, it will be well worth the hassle. I got two damaged boxes, sent both back, and got the 3rd one with a few chips but nothing I couldn't live with. Wayfair representative was WONDERFUL. I felt the situation was handled professionally. I'm only giving this 4 stars as I've spent over an hour on the phone (in total) dealing with a situation that could have been avoided had the company packed the tile properly in the first place.
