The 12-inch. pieces interlock together easily. No digging is involved simply anchors in the provided anchor nails for long-term stability. Easier to create curves/angles than 4 ft. options. Worked exactly as expected, look great. Very sturdy. We filled ours with cobbles. I recommend opening all the boxes and spreading things out before starting; we put a few pieces in the wrong places and had to move them around. But super easy to assemble (and fix our mistakes).. This is an Updated review from a 3 to a 5 star review as I had an issue with my first order that is now resolved. Thank You Wayfair! I really like these and totally recommend them. They were the perfect height I was looking for as why I bought these over metal ones.. They look really nice. I live in a state where we have red clay soil and so it is best to place after a rain or watering. I am not sure how far down they are supposed to go in the ground.
