I used this as picture frame moulding in a bedroom makeover. It was easy to paint. I used a miter saw to cut it and did have some edges that frayed a bit. Sanding helped. I had this installed on a very old exterior door that only had a basic gold lock set, it didn’t seem secure at all. Worked great for our circa 1900 farmhouse remodel in Monterey Ca. Product performed very similar to MDF and was easy to install. A few boards came dented and were quickly replaced by my sales rep at. As the designer I was happy with the look and feel and will not be painting the product. My carpender used a nail gun to install the boards and finished the nail holes with white silicone. NOTE: They do not match up exactly as the sizes are off my 1/4". I will use a glass door and trim out the points they join to fool the eye into not noticing the break in horizontal lines..
