I’ve got a fairly long and steep concrete driveway that is starting to show its age a little bit. There has been some minor cracking from the freeze-thaw cycle each winter. I decided to try the Armour SX5000 water-based sealant to see if it would improve the situation. I have delayed writing this review for a bit as I wanted to driveway to go through at least one winter season. I first pressure washed the entire driveway surface which is pretty time consuming. I then applied the Armour sealant with a manual pump sprayer. This part went fairly quickly. The trick is to get the sealant covering the driveway well, but not so much as to create puddles that aren’t absorbed. I made sure there was no rain in the forecast for a couple of days. Initially, I did half of the driveway first and the first day that it rained the difference on the two sides was very noticeable. Water on the coated side was beading and running off and on the other side it was being absorbed into the concrete. Usually “firm” is not my cup of tea. However, as someone with chronic back pain and peripheral neuropathy it usually what is recommended for me. I just have not found them terribly comfortable and easy to relax in. So imagine my surprise when I fell asleep within a few minutes of getting sheets on the mattress. This week, I’ve been able to sleep for longer stretches than I’ve been able to in months. What’s more, I tend to move a lot in my sleep. Like, A LOT…..to the point where my old mattress would be several inches offsides from the box springs in the mornings and once or twice a month even partially off the frame. This bad boy, however, doesn’t seem to have moved a single inch since the install date. Thumbs up from this rather finicky and rambunctious sleeper. PS I also have sleep apnea.
