It lays fairly flat, but you’ll definitely want a rug pad or some heavier furniture on it to keep it from sliding around. It’s a beautiful rug with vibrant colors I feel like it’s shaped shifts if you have good window light and the light changes throughout the day. The latest is part of the rug looks almost white sometimes and then in full shade looks like a soft, dusty, blue or gray. I love the pops of rust and berry colors and the darkest blue is closer to a teal than a true navy. But all of these colors match nicely with my warm cozy reading room. The only downside to any of these rugs or most products shipped from places like this is it does take time for it to settle into Place though after less than 12 hours it’s already 99% of the way there. It’s soft and thicker piling than all those cheap ones that say their machine washable but just fall apart. The fringe is only on the two shorter sides and it’s interesting because the stitching isn’t hidden so you can tell it’s just a separate white fringe sewn on top it’s not actually the fringe of the carpet design itself.
