I have never had a batch disposal before. I have always had the traditional ones that require a switch to turn on. The only real issue (and its not much of one) is with how our sink is in the kitchen island there isn't a good spot to set the plunger when not in use other than in the sink itself. It is powerful and I am really happy how well it does its job. There is no flap that covers the opening to the drain like on traditional disposals. I thought this would be an issue having it open and silverware falling in. With our drain off to the right it really has not been a problem. Although I did have a fork fall into it the fact that the disposals "neck" between the sink and the bottom is long so the fork never fully fell into the disposal it just stood straight up. Also not having that flap covering the disposal makes it much easier to see at a glance if anything has made its way in that should be there. It is noisy but not bad, just as I expected as from traditional. I like the safety of it not turning on unless the plunger is in. We have young kiddos. Just makes me feel better. Installing this in a dry-walled garage, for instance, will take some doing including cutting away drywall and add 2x4 supports. Blanco makes the best stainless steel sinks. This sink is very roomy and beautiful. If you buy a stainless steel sink it MUST have sound dampening. This sink exceeded expectations both visually and functionally. The 16-gauge stainless steel feels thick and durable. Wow what a sink! I knew the measurements, and verified fit, but the sheer size of this sink is still impressive once seen in person. My chonky EB could take a bath in this one! Beautiful finish. Nice weight. The front is nicely finished with smooth edges. I wasn't expecting much from the accessories honestly, but even there I was proven wrong. Gorgeous! Fit into the grooves in sink flush and easily. Functional, beautiful finish on them as well.
