There are two cooling packs provided, I placed them in the freezer for several hours, then put them in the top portion at night, for cooler air. I don’t know if they did much good. The fan is not overly loud, but definitely has a white noise sound to it. An instruction book is included with the unit, however, it is a little difficult to follow. I went to the product listing on the Wayfair website to obtain information that was not in the instruction book. Overall, not a bad unit in terms of volume of airflow.
