It lays fairly flat, but you’ll definitely want a rug pad or some heavier furniture on it to keep it from sliding around. Beautiful colors. It is thin but that didn't bother me. I bought it for a friend who is in her 80s and the way it laid flat, and not so thick to create a trip hazard was perfect.
