The box is larger than our old which was plastic. So far it has deterred a bear from opening the metal lid. A bear opened our plastic bin and pulled out a small metal barrel holding bird seed. It took us about three to four hours over the course of two afternoons. I recommend two people during assembly. Once assembled the bin seems very sturdy. This is a very solid deck box. The installation was kinda annoying and it could be because I'm more of a picture follower and read when something doesn't make sense but the metal bar needs to line up with the notch in the middle after you connect the latch. I had it all screwed down and realized it and had to double screw that. Another one you have to watch out for are the hinges. But it's nice knowing this thing should last and it's very large.
