The wheels were not allowed while traveling but were handy once the crate was disassembled to make it easier to move around. Improvements: - The area where the wheels attach got pretty beat up, would be nice if there was something else to put on top while not using the wheels. - the handles on top are plastic, and although they should be used just to move the top of the crate, one was missing when I returned back to Texas. I waited a little bit to write this review because I was really frustrated after unpacking the box. There are no instructions on how to assemble as a crate, it only included instructions on use as a playpen. When you go to the Hiddin website there are videos of the crate assembly that show it being super simple, which is generally true, but out of the box, all of the pieces are still covered in the paper used to cut the acrylic. It does not come off in one sheet, so it took a significant amount of time and I ended up with several cuts on my knuckles from the sharp edges of the acrylic. I was really disappointed in the amount of time and the amount of mess that was required and unboxing the crate. I expected it to be a lot smoother given the premium price of this product. The unboxing aside, the crate is nice easy to take apart and clean. And also seems sturdy as our high energy, muscular dog tried to test whether or not she could escape and was not successful. This carrier was a life saver when I was moving with 2 very skittish cats. I had to take them on a ferry and a 6 hour car ride and this carrier was large enough to fit a small letterbox in there with them and I did not have to open the crate until we were safely in our new space. I bought this crate as it is approved for Alaska airlines -this is a 500 series and for a 72-pound labrador who will be flying in the cargo hold. Assembly is easy enough, no tools needed, and the crate has enough space for my lab to turn around inside and sit. It feels very secure and the door of the crate has small holes on all 4 corners so that it can be secured via zip ties for travel. This is one of the very few crates available and approved for air travel, so I am happy I found it and it shipped very quickly as my lab needs to practice her crate training before our flight. What I do not like about this crate: - plastic wing nuts to secure the bolts aren't ideal, they should just include the aluminum ones by default. I had to buy the aluminum ones separately. - quality control issues - there are 3 missing washers because of which the corners cant be secured. Without the washers, the bolt just slides through the hole. I had to purchase washers separately, a set that includes 9 sizes, as I do not know what size is appropriate here, which is an additional pain point. As small and insignificant as a washer might seem, it is a very important component as the crate will be useless without. They should include these as well. - no ease of purchase - they should include all-travel related components as one bundle. crate, mat, live animal stickers, animal passport, food and water bowls etc. I had to buy these separately..
