The wood is strong enough for indoor but I don’t think it would last long outside in the elements. I didn’t use the roofing material that came with it since I have it inside the house. We just got this and initially it seems that our cat isn’t sure what to make of it. The construction is sound and it’s easy to charge and comes with a use charger. It is easy to clean and quiet. Very sturdy and very easy to put together! It’s also very heavy, so you won’t be moving it around easily after it’s assembled, but it is easy to take it apart if you want to move it. I love that it comes with 2 gates (plus 14 panels)! We got the pen that is 40 inches tall because our new rabbit was jumping out of our old 30-inch pen. My only complaint is that each gate has 2 latches so the gates are impossible to open with one hand, so I tied a string to the latches (there is a metal loop on top of each latch) so that I just have to pull up the string with one hand to open both latches on one gate at the same time..
