This piece is much sturdier and heavier than I expected, which was a pleasant surprise once it was fully assembled. The overall quality feels solid and stable, and it definitely does not come across as flimsy or cheaply made. That said, the assembly process was far more difficult than it should have been. The instructions were not very clear, and none of the parts were labeled, which made the setup frustrating and time consuming. It ended up taking close to three hours to put together because of all the guesswork involved. One corner on the top section also did not line up perfectly, so that particular screw could not be tightened completely. Thankfully, it still seems stable overall, but the alignment issue was disappointing considering the amount of effort required to assemble it. Another thing buyers should know is that this item is extremely large once completed. I would strongly recommend assembling it inside the room where it will be used, because moving it afterward may be difficult. I really do love everything about this crate (so far). That is to say, I love the way it looks. I spent days looking at different furniture crates and had an aha moment when I found this one online. It was the perfect vibe for the aesthetic of my home. When it arrived I unpacked everything and inventoried all of the parts. Check. Then I read through the directions and it said it would take two people an hour to put it together. Uncheck. My dad and mom both came over to help. My dad is a carpenter and builder. It took us five hours and a lot of curse words to put it together. Was it worth it? At the time, no. But now that it's together, I'm glad we persevered. It really is a nice, sturdy piece. As for functionality? We'll see. I'm bringing an eight-week-old puppy home in a few weeks and imagine things will be pretty mild at first. The real test will be in a few months to see if the gates hold up. They aren't not sturdy, but they're also not affirmingly solid.
