The wood is strong enough for indoor but I don’t think it would last long outside in the elements. I didn’t use the roofing material that came with it since I have it inside the house. We love this dog house. We have a 110 pound German shepherd who prefers being outside. I never grew up with an outdoor dog so I was extremely hesitant to move him full time to our backyard, but this dog house made it an easier choice. He’s super happy and so are we. One thing to note is the installation is very tricky. We thought we could do it ourselves but we ended up paying someone 700 to build it for us.
