Organize the parts ahead of time and definitely use a power drill. We built all the boxes and shelves the evening before so we could just install them after we built "cage" the next day. Love this! Debated about the purchase for a while, but finally went for it, and my cats are in love. Its sturdy and assembly instructions are straight forward. Plenty of room for both of my large cats (about 12-14 lbs each). I added some finer screening around it to keep bugs out (just stapled it to the frame) and created a wood frame that fits inside my window so it can be secured without attaching it to the exterior of my house. My two kitties love their new space! We have two 9 months old kitties that we rescued when they were 3 12 weeks old. They are indoor cats but we wanted to give them a safe sanctuary when are not home. I put the structure together myself and it probably would have gone quicker if I had help but I took my time and the instructions were easy enough to follow. The wood is strong enough for indoor but I don’t think it would last long outside in the elements. I didn’t use the roofing material that came with it since I have it inside the house.
